Nancy Claridge was called to the Ontario Bar in 2006 and joined Carters that same year, becoming a partner in 2012, and practices in the areas of corporate and commercial law, anti-terrorism law, real estate law, commercial leasing, charity and not-for-profit law and wills and estates, in addition to being the assistant editor of the firm’s publications. She is former President of the Dufferin County Law Association and a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association.

Nancy graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2005, where she received the Dean’s Gold Key Award and the Legal & Literary Society’s Student Honour Award. While at Osgoode Hall, Nancy was a Senior Editor for the Osgoode Hall Law Journal, Editor-in-Chief of the Obiter Dicta, Osgoode’s weekly newspaper, as well as participating with the Innocence Project, an Osgoode Hall programme that works to release the wrongfully convicted. Nancy obtained a B.A. (Hons.) and a M.A. in political science from York University in 1994 and 1996, respectively.

Prior to attending Osgoode Hall, Nancy spent several years developing online Canadian legal research databases for LexisNexis Canada, including the creation of a Canadian citations database for Shepard’s. She also contributed to texts on legal research, as well as writing for various online and print publications focusing on personal injury law, criminal law (young offenders) and human rights. As a research assistant at Osgoode Hall, Nancy conducted research for Canadian Conflict of Laws, 5th ed., and assisted in editing The Civil Litigation Process, 6th ed.

While articling with Carters, Nancy gained experience in the areas of charity and not-for-profit law, corporate/commercial law, civil litigation and anti-terrorism law, as well as contributing to several Charity & NFP Law Bulletins.

In the community, Nancy is a Director with the Credit River Non Profit Housing Corporation and Hiwhois Assistance Group, she performs with the Headwaters’ Concert Choir and the Great Lakes Touring Chorus as both a chorus member and soloist, is the former President of the Orangeville Concert Association, a Director with the Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival, on the Executive Committee of the Greater Dufferin Area Estate Planning Council, a former member of the Community Living Dufferin Rights Advisory Committee, a former member of the Upper Grand District School Board Compliance Audit Committee, and a former member of the Town of Orangeville Leave a Legacy Committee.
